AWI Membership
is open to all women in the
Istanbul
area who are American or Canadian citizens, or who are married to American
or Canadian citizens. Registration for the 2006-2007 year will be accepted
at all meetings throughout the year. The membership fee is as follows:
between June 2008-February 2009, 40 YTL; March 2009, 35 YTL; April 2009 and
after, 30 YTL. Senior
members’ (age 70 and over and member for five years) fee is waived.
If you are joining for the first
time or were not a member last year, please bring your passport (or a
photocopy of your spouse’s passport if you are not a
US
or Canadian citizen). This procedure was started in 1992 as a way to offer
each member optimum security while being associated with an American
social group.
Member Information:
It is strictly against AWI policy to give the membership directory, or any
portion of the information contained in the directory, to any non-member
of the organization. All member information should be handled with
confidentiality.
Members are entitled to the
directory for their personal use only, never for business or commercial
purposes. Members are
requested to report to the Board any misuse of the membership information
resulting in unsolicited mail, telephone call or email for
business/commercial purposes.
Email Policy:
The Board maintains a list of members email addresses and will limit email
communication to the following:
·
AWI General Meeting reminders
and postponements/cancellations.
·
AWI Program and AWI Event
reminders and information. AWI Programs and Events are approved and
planned by the Board.
·
Embassy/Consulate Warden
Messages.
Guest
Policy: Guests are welcome at AWI events and
programs, with the following limitations:
·
Because of the size of our
group, guests are limited to those eligible to join AWI, or visiting
friends or family of AWI members.
·
Eligible guests may come one
time only. After that, they must become members in order to attend.
·
Children are very special.
However, due to the size and nature of our gatherings, we must ask that
children not be brought to meetings, events and programs unless they are
specifically invited.
Event and Program
Participation: A great amount of effort is
put into organizing events and programs; not only by our members, but by
those providing the venue and service. If you sign up for an event/program
and cannot make it, please be courteous enough to call the designated
contact person before the cancellation deadline or 24 hours before the
date.
A reservation made is a
reservation paid. If the event requires advance payment, you will only be
considered as signed up once the money has been paid. Refunds will only be
given if cancellation is made before the issued deadline. Cancellation
without proper notification is a costly embarrassment, so please be
considerate of your hostess and planners. If you have any questions,
please call an AWI Board Member. If any money is owed, it is the
member’s responsibility to pay. Thank you in advance for your
cooperation.
Talk to your Board Members:
The Board is here to ensure that the programs, activities, and other
services offered to our members are enjoyable and successful. Feel free to
contact members of the Board to discuss any relevant issues you may wish
to raise or to make suggestions for improvements.
Please keep in mind that AWI
Board members are volunteers. Try to limit calls to them to 09:00-17:00 on
weekdays
